Fuels facilities maintains base service station

MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Moody Air Force Base website — Approximately 438 government owned vehicles on Moody use fuel provided by the base service station in order to do their job. The service station’s tanks, are maintained by two Airmen assigned to the 23d Logistics Readiness Squadron fuels facilities section.

MG ‘19 Airmen fill fuel bladder in U.S. for the first time

FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Fairchild Air Force Base website — A handful of 92nd Logistics Readiness Squadron Airmen employed a Fuels Operational Readiness Capability Equipment system during Mobility Guardian 2019, marking the first time the mobile fuel bladders have been used stateside in an uncontested environment, Sept. 11, 2019.

Airmen perform last-minute checks on a U-2 reconnaissance aircraft before it takes from Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea. Huntsville Center’s Fuels team cleaned, inspected and repaired a fuel storage tank used to hold and dispense a jet fuel created specifically for the reconnaissance aircraft, an important part of the Air Force’s intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance mission enterprise.

Fuels project quick-turn supports Osan mission

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center website — Huntsville Center’s Fuels team had a very short period of time to clean, inspect and repair a fuel storage tank used to hold and dispense Jet Propellant Thermally Stable, a jet fuel created specifically for a reconnaissance aircraft.

The historic Defense Fuel Support Point Yorktown fuel terminal in Virginia has 10 underground tanks used to store F24 and JP8 jet fuel. The cut-and-cover tanks, built in 1953, were demolished in 2015 along with the removal of pier piping and equipment. Soil testing and surveys will be conducted at DFSP Yorktown to prepare the land for future use.

The departure of the final barge of jet fuel marked the end of an era for the historic Defense Fuel Support Point Yorktown, Virginia, June 6.

POL fuel yard gets first major upgrade since 50s

MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Marines website — The 23d Logistics Readiness Squadron (LRS) is currently overseeing the construction of the Petroleum, Oils and Lubricants (POL) fuels bulk storage yard, which is slated for completion Jan. 2019.

New Ground Vehicle Fueling Facility opens for business

ARNOLD AIR FORCE BASE, TENN. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Arnold Air Force Base website — After months of preparation, the Arnold Air Force Base Ground Vehicle Fueling Facility is accepting customers who are fueling government vehicles with regular unleaded gasoline or diesel fuel, also known as GUR or DS2.
