Marine Corps turns 245

On this day, in 1775, the Second Continental Congress, meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed a resolution establishing the Marine Corps to augment naval forces in the Revolutionary War. The recruiting headquarters was set up in the Tun Tavern on Water Street in Philadelphia, which is considered to be the birthplace of the Marines.

DLA Distribution San Joaquin, California’s former commanding officer, Marine Brig. Gen. Keith D. Reventlow, assistant deputy commandant for Installation and Logistics (Plans), Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps, recently visited the San Joaquin team May 8. He met with the distribution center’s commanding officer Marine Col. Andre Harrell and key senior staff members to discuss various initiatives to improve and sustain warfighter materiel readiness.
