National Guard Provides Support to Hurricane Stricken States

As a result, local, state, and national response efforts have launched with FEMA coordinating the Federal assistance throughout impacted areas. About 6,700 guardsmen from 16 states across the U.S. have been activated to provide assistance.

DLA prepares to act swiftly during hurricane season

Hurricane season runs from the early summer to late fall, but the Defense Logistics Agency prepares year-round to respond to natural disasters. In 2021, DLA provided $40 million in hurricane support, according to the Whole of Government Division. This included 752,000 gallons of fuel, 809,000 meals, 126 leased generators and 49 deployed civilians.

Texas legislature recognizes DLA Energy employee

Recognizing his “remarkable dedication and skill,” the State of Texas House of Representatives adopted Resolution No. 140 to “commend Staff Sergeant Calvin Williams for his service during Hurricane Ida and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in his important work.” During a Nov. 2 ceremony in Sugar Land, Texas, District 26 State Representative Jacey Jetton personally presented Williams the resolution, thanking him for his service and support.
