Mission ready: How workplace morale strengthens mental health and warfighter support

PHILADELPHIA — A group of employees at the DLA Troop Support Medical supply chain work together to boost morale and improve mental health within the workforce. Working in tandem on two separate teams, the Cultural Improvement Team plans events, while the Employee Morale Team is allowed to fundraise to make social events like cookouts and holiday parties more affordable for the workforce.

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — Nearly 100 Defense Logistics Agency employees came together this year to repeat their 2018 victory by winning the Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Commander’s Cup.

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — In an effort to boost morale and talk face-to-face with DLA Distribution headquarters employees, Distribution Commanding Officer Navy Rear Adm. Kevin M. Jones, has implemented a monthly employee recognition program. Directorates are to provide names of their heavy hitters—those who have gone above and beyond to ensure the mission of DLA Distribution is met and exceeded, and Jones presents them with a commander’s coin and a thank you.

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — It’s 4 a.m. and the silver urn coffee pots are percolating with hot coffee. Christmas music plays in the background. The Defense Logistics Agency police force eagerly fill their coffee cups and hail the snack shop’s 80 year old proprietor Clellan Vandevander, affectionately known as “Mac.”

DLA wins Fort Belvoir Commander’s Cup

After years of advancing in the rankings, this year the Defense Logistics Agency beat the competition to win the Fort Belvoir Commander’s Cup for the first time. DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams congratulated the team from across the agency in an Oct. 4 ceremony at the McNamara Headquarters Complex.
