Troop Support commander visits Air Force customers, recruit support vendors in Texas

PHILADELPHIA — Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Commander Army Brig. Gen. Eric P. Shirley visited Air Force customers and clothing and textiles vendors in San Antonio and Austin, Texas, Feb. 3-4 to better understand challenges and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders in the region.

DLA ensures textiles-based PPE is American-made per Berry Amendment

FORT BELVOIR, Va. — Despite worldwide shortages of medical supplies for COVID-19, DLA is helping the Department of Health and Human Services provide items like masks and gloves that are made here in America when possible.

C&T director promoted to Air Force colonel

PHILADELPHIA — Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support’s Clothing and Textiles Director Air Force Col. Justin Swartzmiller was promoted from lieutenant colonel during a socially distanced ceremony at the Liberty Bell Center in Philadelphia Oct. 28.

Recruits at the Army recruit training center in Fort Jackson, South Carolina receive improved hot weather combat uniforms during initial issuance for the first time Oct. 2, 2020. DLA Troop Support’s Clothing and Textiles supply chain provided about 10,000 sets of improved hot-weather combat uniform, or IHWCU, coats and trousers to recruit training centers across the country by Oct. 21, 2020.

DLA provides lighter hot-weather uniform to Army recruits

PHILADELPHIA — Army recruits will have the option of wearing a lighter hot-weather uniform as they receive their initial issue bags thanks to Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support.

U.S. Army soldiers from the California Army National Guard’s Task Force Rattlesnake out of Redding, California, put out a fire Sept. 1, 2020, near Scott’s Valley, California, during the CZU Lightning Complex Fire in Santa Cruz and San Mateo counties. DLA Troop Support’s Clothing and Textiles team provided more than 700 boots to the Army National Guard as of Sept. 17, 2020 in support of mobilized firefighters combating West Coast wildland fires.

Name, rank, service and badges will be more identifiable on OCP

ARLINGTON, Va. (AFNS) — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Air Force website — OCP rank insignia, badges, name, and service tapes will now feature a lighter, three-color background pattern, versus the current seven-color pattern, to increase readability and ease rank recognition.
