Holiday safety paramount at work, home

Richmond, Va. — As we approach the holiday season, Defense Logistics Agency Installation Operations’ Fire and Emergency Services want to remind you to be vigilant in the workplace.

July is the peak month for grill fires. Roughly half of the injuries involving grills are thermal burns. The National Fire Protection Association provides free downloadable grilling safety tips on their website at NFPA.org.

Yokosuka employee’s quick thinking saves a life

YOKOSUKA, Japan — On a recent evening, Osamu Takaura, a cargo shipment clerk at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Yokosuka, Japan’s, Sasebo detachment, happened upon an apartment in his neighborhood where he noticed black smoke coming from the roof.

Corpus Christi workforce practices fire safety with extinguisher training

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 53 employees were killed by workplace fires in 2014. Although the number of fire-related fatalities has dropped 35 percent from 2013 to 2014, one fatality is too many.
