The Future of Renewable Energy at Camp Pendleton

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton website — On days with favorable weather conditions the solar panels aboard Camp Pendleton can currently generate renewable energy at a level of 50 percent of the average consumption on the base.

SunPower Contractors use a backhoe to loosen dirt surrounding a support base at Redstone Arsenal's future solar array site. The project, developed by Redstone Arsenal's Directorate of Public Works, the OEI and the Huntsville Center's Energy Division, is the first Power Purchase Agreement Program project solicited through the renewable and alternative energy Multiple Award Task Order Contract awarded by Huntsville Center in 2013.
