DLA Energy adds new customers to Direct Supply Natural Gas Program

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — Defense Logistics Agency Energy Installation Energy’s newest customers, Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma, and DLA Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, have Direct Supply Natural Gas Program contracts beginning Oct. 1.

Subsistence employees see field feeding outside their office

PHILADELPHIA — Subsistence employees toured a field kitchen that Pennsylvania National Guard soldiers set up while staged at the NSA Philadelphia compound in support of the Papal visit.

Ken Drover, lead partner, Global Defense Center of Excellence, Patty St. George, partner, Federal Advisory and Jeff Langley, director, Supply Chain and Logistics, visited DLA Distribution for a discussion with leadership on operational and financial supply chain transformation.

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — As the external audit nears, DLA Distribution continues to prepare the agency for success. Recently, the organization welcomed three executive members from KPMG’s Management Consulting Advisory practice. Ken Drover, lead partner, Global Defense Center of Excellence, Patty St. George, partner, Federal Advisory and Jeff Langley, director, Supply Chain and Logistics, visited DLA Distribution for a discussion with leadership on operational and financial supply chain transformation. KPMG is the advisory firm currently assisting DLA Distribution prepare for the independent audit.

Critical Partnerships

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — DLA Aviation and DLA Land and Maritime are strengthening their partnerships with customers involved in the nuclear mission.

DLA Land and Maritime is working with service logisticians to expand support for land-based heavy bombers, many of which need modernization and haven’t been exercised in a nuclear capacity for years.

Revitalizing Support to the Nuclear Enterprise

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — Having a nuclear arsenal at the ready is a key part of America’s national security strategy, and maintaining the health of those weapons systems is a growing concern for the Defense Logistics Agency.

Air Force Staff Sgt. Chris Misenheimer, a nuclear weapons technician, performs routine maintenance on a rotary launcher at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana. DLA’s past support focused on the Defense Department’s nuclear enterprise shooters. The agency has recently expanded its support to the enterprise’s transport and support system functions as well.

Synchronizing Support

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — The Nuclear Enterprise Support Office was created to allow DLA to synchronize its efforts for the nuclear enterprise.

RICHMOND, Va. — Defense Supply Center Richmond employees kicked off their annual Combined Federal Campaign Sept. 23 in the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center. The campaign runs through Dec. 15 and this year’s campaign theme is “Serving our Country, Supporting our Community.”
