This Memorial Day, reflect and remember — but also be vigilant

Given the recent suicide bombing in Manchester, United Kingdom, Defense Logistics Agency employees are urged to be vigilant in large public gatherings. Look out for any person whose behavior, demeanor or belongings seem unusual, and report them to law enforcement.

DLA small-business office helps train businesses on government contracting

The Defense Logistics Agency’s Office of Small Business Programs co-hosted with George Mason University an annual Training, Outreach and Networking Event for U.S. businesses in Arlington, Virginia, May 18.

DLA Energy Commander visits Baltimore DFSP

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — The Defense Logistics Agency Energy Commander visited the Defense Fuel Support Point Baltimore and the Vane Brothers Company as part of a familiarization tour of the DLA Energy Americas East supply chain May 22.

DLA Distribution Bahrain welcomes new commander

MANAMA, Bahrain — Navy Supply Corps Cmdr. Charles M. Tellis, assumed command of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Bahrain, Southwest Asia, in a ceremony May 25. The ceremony was officiated by DLA Central Command and Southern Command commander, U.S. Army Col. Derrin W. Williams.

Dana Dallas, a packaging analyst and cold chain program manager for DLA Troop Support’s Medical supply chain, receives a coin from DLA Acquisition Director Matthew Beebe during his Nov. 9 visit. Medical employee maintains cold chain, saves money, earns DOD award

PHILADELPHIA — When DLA sends vaccines and drugs to military medical facilities, Dana Dallas ensures there are no weak links in the cold chain. The Medical supply chain employee earned the Defense Department’s Packaging Excellence Award in a ceremony in Rockaway, N.J., May 10.

Land and Maritime honors its 2017 Hall of Fame class

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Seven associates representing 153 years of service to the nation’s warfighters were honored with Land and Maritime’s highest tribute with their induction into the Land and Maritime 2017 Hall of Fame Class.

DORRA employees graduate from 14-week Army Logistics University course

Richmond, Va. — Three Defense Logistics Agency Office of Operations Research and Resource Analysis employees recently graduated from a prestigious Army training course.

‘Ghost Brigade’s’ War on Excess

Joint Base Lewis­McChord, Washington — The 1­-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team has been taking part in an installation wide material management program to synchronize and execute material management actions and increase on hand equipment readiness.

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — A new video featuring Defense Logistics Agency Energy Aerospace Energy was release on DLA’s YouTube page.
