Central Ohio small businesses gain millions

The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime announced that more than $120 million in government contracting dollars have been awarded to Ohio small businesses since the beginning of the fiscal year. Third quarter numbers released today reflect an increase of more than $40 million from the first half of the fiscal year. Nearly $37 million in award dollars have gone to small businesses in the Columbus region – an increase of more than $7 million in the third quarter. The Columbus Metropolitan Region encompasses the following counties according to the Columbus Chamber of Commerce: Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Knox, Logan, Licking, Madison, Marion, Morrow, Pickaway and Union.

DPAA official talks challenges, progress in accounting for America’s missing

The Defense Federal Community commemorated Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Recognition Day Sept. 21 at the Defense Supply Center Columbus. Since 1986, the third Friday in September is set aside to remember those taken prisoner or reported missing in America’s conflicts. This year’s featured speaker was Jack Kull, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency’s Strategic Coordinator for Southeast Asia.
