Pumping iron returns to DSCR Fitness Center
RICHMOND, VA — Paul Henry, an electrician for Defense Logistics Agency Installation Management at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, seemed like a kid in the candy store as he moved from one piece of equipment to another inside the Fitness Center on DSCR. Working out there is something he hasn’t been able to do since it was shut down in early spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lead-acid a positive for the environment
Richmond, Va. — Batteries aren’t exactly great for the environment, but recycling is. Employees from Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Richmond, DLA Installation Management Richmond and DLA Disposition Services Richmond, Virginia turned a negative into a positive Oct. 28 when they decided to return over 1,500 lead-acid batteries back to the manufacturer.

Navy celebrates 245 years of victories at sea
RICHMOND, VA — On this day, way back in 1775, the Continental Congress established the first American naval force, the precursor to today’s United States Navy. Now fast forward to 1972, when then Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Elmo R. Zumwalt authorized Oct. 13 to be recognized as the official birthday of the U.S. Navy as a celebration “to enhance a greater appreciation of our Navy heritage, and to provide a positive influence toward pride and professionalism in the naval service.”

RICHMOND, VA — Emergencies can occur in the blink of an eye, with the impact ranging from temporary disruption of activities to a loss of an installation’s ability to perform its assigned missions. Employees receive warnings of approaching weather emergencies, such as blizzards, tornados, floods, etc., in time for them to take measures to minimize loss of life or property. However, there may be no warning signs when it comes to an earthquake.
