DLA forging and casting investment continues to provide returns 25 years later

In the early 1990s, Defense Logistics Agency recognized the need to invest in future technology; the agency saw that some once-robust domestic supply chains were disappearing, fragmenting or going overseas. Now, 25-plus years later, the agency’s forging and casting initiative is yielding benefits from knowledge shared by industry, the military services and DLA Aviation.

Republic of Austria Army visits DLA Distribution

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Two members of the Republic of Austria Army – Col. Gerhard Schweiger and CWO Walter Wolfram - visited Defense Logistics Agency Distribution on Jan. 14.

AMC deputy commanding general visits Anniston distribution center

ANNISTON, Alabama — On Jan. 11, Army Lt. Gen. Larry Wyche, deputy commanding general of Army Material Command, visited Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Anniston, Ala., to discuss small arms operations and the distribution center’s wall-to-wall weapons inventory and item-unique identification labeling.

Ogden material supply technician named DLA Aviation’s November Employee of the Month

RICHMOND, Virginia — Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s November Employee of the Month (EOM) is Gregory LaRue. He serves as a material support technician for the Customer Operations Directorate of DLA Aviation at Ogden, Utah. DLA Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Allan Day presented the award to LaRue during a ceremony via video teleconference Jan. 6.

Tobyhanna division wins TYAD Safety Area of the Year award

The Packing, Warehouse and Small Parcel area of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Tobyhanna, Pa., was awarded the Tobyhanna Army Depot Safety Area of the Year Award - Tenant Activity, for fiscal year 2015 for their work in ensuring employee safety.

DLA Distribution Operation Team’s Rozier honored at DLA 48th annual employee recognition ceremony

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — DLA Distribution Operation Team Atlanta team member Navy Senior Chief Logistics Specialist Vascoe Rozier III was honored as the agency’s Joint Reserve Force Senior Enlisted Member of the Year during DLA’s 48th annual employee recognition ceremony Dec. 10.

Tie down adjusters are used to secure heavy cargo being transported on military cargo planes.

DLA Aviation helps ensure safe transportation of vital equipment

RICHMOND, Virginia — Cindy Hunt is a contract specialist in Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s Engines and Airframes Division. She has been a buyer for tie down adjusters since 2007. “The tie down adjuster has been a high visibility item for our division as it is a high demand item for troops around the world,” said Hunt.
