PHILADELPHIA — The Army’s newest colonel is Abel Young. The director of DLA Troop Support’s Subsistence supply chain was promoted in front of family and friends in Philadelphia Oct. 25.

More than a century of service recognized at Troop Support retirement ceremony

PHILADELPHIA — The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support honored three employees for their 110 years of combined federal service during a retirement ceremony Oct. 25. Debra Tillman, Mary Newell and Bernice Eaddy-Brown, each with more than 30 years of federal service, were recognized for their contributions to the agency.

USACE has received 7 FEMA Mission Assignments (7 active, 6 closed), totaling more than $10.5 million for disaster response to Hurricane Michael-damaged areas. One of those missions is to provide Temporary Emergency Power. DLA Troop Support provides 5,000 meals and 63 generators following Hurricane Michael

PHILADELPHIA — Before Hurricane Michael hit the Florida panhandle Oct. 10, the Federal Emergency Management Agency reached out to Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support for assistance.

Maximo Ayala, the lead instructor and chief, Lean Six Sigma training and project management support branch at DLA Troop Support, conducts Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training Oct. 18 in Philadelphia. Students gain analytical skills during the 40-hour course, which they must pass and then complete a continuous process improvement project to earn their Green Belt certification.

Fueling hurricane recovery efforts

Heavy rains, flooding and severe damages haven’t stopped DLA Energy from providing fuel to hurricane response and recovery efforts after two major hurricanes, Florence and Michael, struck the nation over the past two months. In support of the FEMA, Task Force Americas has moved from staging area to staging area prepositioning personnel and fuel for quick deployment to hurricane ravaged areas.
