Summertime is when many of us engage in what some might consider the most joyous of activities: spending time with friends and family, eating, drinking and watching fireworks light up the sky. Despite professional firework displays being fun and exciting, many people feel the real fun takes place when this excitement is recreated in our own homes through the purchasing of store-bought fireworks made for personal use. Sadly enough, sometimes the results are disastrous.

Process improvements speed parts delivery

Metrics don’t always tell the whole story and successful organizations welcome customer feedback and areas to improve. Back in January, the 573rd Commodities Maintenance Squadron leadership at Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex reached out to the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Warner Robins’ Storage and Distribution team about issue and delivery delays for raw materials not being delivered to their mechanics quickly enough.

Navy Cmdr. Curtis Ceaser took over as commander, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation - Jacksonville, Florida during a virtual change of command ceremony on Naval Air Station Jacksonville, June 15. DLA Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. David Sanford officiated the ceremony virtually from Washington, D.C., where he is currently on a special assignment as the deputy director of the COVID-19 Supply Chain Task Force with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Living his dream

Two weeks after his high school graduation in June 1965, George Tyras joined the United States Air Force and became an aircraft fueling operator in U-Tapao, Thailand, servicing KC-135 and B-52 aircraft from Vietnam. Operation Rolling Thunder was underway and gas was 31 cents a gallon. Fifty-four years later, Tyras is ending his career with more than 54 years of total federal service.
