911 awareness procedures help DSCR employees

National 911 Awareness Month is observed every April on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. The 911 system serves as a vital link between emergency responders and the public. The number gives the public a single, simple way to call for help in the event of a fire or other emergency. 911 was chosen as the national emergency phone number during the days of rotary telephones because the 9 and the 1 were easy to find on the dial.

DLA Energy maintains fuel quality with modified procedures

Quality assurance representatives at DLA Energy are modifying procedures to ensure military fuel remains on-spec during the COVID-19 pandemic. They are closely synchronizing fuel movements with suppliers, and in some cases where there is an acceptable level of risk to the supply chain, using remote oversight methods to overcome restricted travel and social distancing requirements.

In February, DLA Aviation started looking at its chemical, petroleum, oils and lubricants contract with Science Applications International Corporation to review products available to fight the spread of the coronavirus.

Eisenhower School Seminar goes virtual

Using the school’s online classroom, students at National Defense University’s Eisenhower School learned about DLA Energy during a virtual presentation, April 6. Due to COVID-19 health concerns, the defense fuel management seminar was held online with the more than 20 senior-level military officers and civilians from the U.S. and four international partners – Czech Republic, Lebanon, Norway and Poland.
