Army Maj. Gen. Flem B. "Donnie" Walker Jr. Visits Defense Logistics Agency Bahrain, Southwest Asia

MANAMA, Bahrain — Army Maj. Gen. Flem B. "Donnie" Walker Jr., commanding general, 1st Sustainment Command (Theater) and deputy commanding general‐ Sustainment for United States Army Central, visited Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Bahrain, Southwest Asia on Feb. 27. DLA Distribution Bahrain Commander, Navy Cmdr. Charles Tellis and his leadership team provided a command brief and a tour of the facilities.

DLA R&D boosts performance, safety for batteries powering weapons systems

Recent work led by DLA’s Battery Network R&D program includes the development of a new lithium ion-based power system for the TOW 2 anti-tank missile and new lead-acid batteries used on armored vehicles, such as the Bradley Fighting Vehicle.

New plan, ombudsman focus on strengthening industry engagement

Power Projection

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — Months after three hurricanes hit Puerto Rico, DLA Troop Support is still hard at work, helping Americans regain electrical power with the help of new generators.

A soldier with 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), fires the new M17, or Modular Handgun System, at the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) indoor range. The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), the world’s only air assault division, is the first unit in the Army to field the service’s new handgun which replaces the M9 pistol, the standard Army sidearm since 1986.
