Only weeks after mass shootings at a concert in Las Vegas and at a small-town church in South Texas, employees of the Defense Logistics Agency should know DLA and other local first responders are regularly honing their skills in responding to active shooters, as they in did in a Nov. 7 exercise at the McNamara Headquarters Complex and at the agency’s facility in nearby Lorton.

Most DLA employees know Teodora Mocanu as the agency’s dedicated photographer — but she is also a mother, a scholar and an Army veteran. In memory of her late squad leader, Sgt. Anthony Lopez, Mocanu ran in this year’s Army Ten-Miler in Washington, D.C., Oct. 8.

Susquehanna Installations Operations hosts force protection lecture series

DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania hosted a force protection lecture series which highlighted photos of the 2011 flooding in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and the efforts of the Derry Township Police Department on Oct. 27. The guest speaker was Patrick M. O’Rourke, Sr., former Derry Township police chief and current security manager with the Global Security team at the Hershey Company.
