Distribution’s Lewis receives command assignment to Army’s 308th Brigade Support Battalion

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — Army Lt. Col. Christina Lewis, DLA Distribution Future Plans, has been selected to command the 308th Brigade Support Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Brigade, out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Adderly selected as Jacksonville distribution center deputy

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Richard Adderly has been selected to serve as deputy commander of DLA Distribution Jacksonville, Florida.

DLA R&D boosts performance, safety for batteries powering weapons systems

Recent work led by DLA’s Battery Network R&D program includes the development of a new lithium ion-based power system for the TOW 2 anti-tank missile and new lead-acid batteries used on armored vehicles, such as the Bradley Fighting Vehicle.

Port Hueneme’s team supports annual Antarctic resupply mission

PORT HUENEME, Calif. — Each year, the Preservation, Packaging, Packing and Marking team at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution San Diego, Calif., at Port Hueneme supports Operation Deep Freeze, the National Science Foundation’s Antarctic research mission at McMurdo Station, Antarctica, the logistics hub for NSF’s research mission.

New plan, ombudsman focus on strengthening industry engagement

For many years, the Defense Logistics Agency has sought opportunities to engage with its industry partners and adopt their best practices. Now DLA’s Acquisition Directorate has a new DLA Industry Engagement Plan and an ombudsman to help implement the plan’s features.

Power Projection

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — Months after three hurricanes hit Puerto Rico, DLA Troop Support is still hard at work, helping Americans regain electrical power with the help of new generators.

A soldier with 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), fires the new M17, or Modular Handgun System, at the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) indoor range. The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), the world’s only air assault division, is the first unit in the Army to field the service’s new handgun which replaces the M9 pistol, the standard Army sidearm since 1986.
