Veterans serving veterans, giving thanks across military generations

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Many Americans gathered with family and friends to give thanks last week; however, members of the DLA Land and Maritime family met with another family to give thanks this season – veterans. The 13-member group of active duty and retired service members led by the Joint Reserve Force supported the Columbus VA annual Thanksgiving feast for area veterans. The event was held at the American Legion Post 144 on South High Street Nov. 16.

DLA Land and Maritime’s Level III Mentoring program protégés support community outreach

COLUMBUS, Ohio — DLA Land and Maritime’s Level III Mentoring Program introduced its class of 2020 in January 2018. The protégés have been busy since then; working with their mentors, facilitating local events, attending leadership development activities, shadowing and mentoring others.

Fire Prevention Week: Look. Listen. Learn. Be Aware. Fire can happen anywhere.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Fire Prevention Week was Oct. 7 - 13. It was first established in 1922. In 1925, President Calvin Coolidge issued the first proclamation for fire prevention week, making it a national observance. DLA Columbus Fire and Emergency Services recognizes the importance of fire prevention and fire safety education. FES holds several specialized events each year during fire prevention week.

National Preparedness activities conclude on DSCC

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Defense Supply Center Columbus completed a number of activities during National Preparedness Month. DSCC’s goal was to provide information to installation employees to make them better prepared for emergencies at home, at work and in the community.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Communications Line of Business and EcoSystem Chief Robert Reed officiated the Defense Information Systems Agency-Columbus Retirement Ceremony Sept. 25 to celebrate 22 retiring employees. The employees were from the Infrastructure Directorate, Services Directorate, and Development and Business Center.

Members of Defense Logistics Agency’s Land and Maritime workforce, along with other DLA employees, contractors and Joint Reservists joined forces to establish the DLA Real Property Task Force to complete a worldwide physical inventory of real property assets.
