COLUMBUS, Ohio — DLA Human Resources Director, Brad Bunn brought his human resources roadshow to Land and Maritime Nov. 4 to personally discuss several high visibility human resource issues with the Columbus workforce.

DLA Aviation and Ft. Lee military celebrate Veterans Day with local veterans

Richmond, Virginia — Defense Logistics Agency Aviation military members from Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, and students from the Army Logistics University’s Basic Officer Leadership Course and the Army Instructor Training Course from Fort Lee, came together to visit veterans at local facilities in Hopewell on Nov. 9 and Nov. 11. The visit was to honor and remember the former and current veterans for their sacrifices in preserving our freedoms. The group visited and presented certificates to 15 veteran residents at Gentiva Hospice Center’s River View on the Appomattox facility.

DLA Aviation celebrates Resiliency Day, moves into training sustainment phase

RICHMOND, Va. — Defense Logistics Agency employees at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, received a glass pebble as they filled the Lotts Conference Center Nov. 15, celebrating the past year’s accomplishments in training the workforce in resiliency tools to succeed personally and professionally in ever-changing environments.

Commander speaks to CCPS Tech Center students about logistics, leadership

Richmond, Virginia — Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Allan Day visited the Chesterfield County Public Schools Career and Technical Education Center (Hull Street Road location) Nov. 3, where he spoke to approximately 70 students.

Marines celebrate 241 years of proud service

Veterans honored at annual DSCC program

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Associates honored fellow veterans during Defense Supply Center Columbus’ annual Veterans Day Program Nov. 9 inside the DLA Land and Maritime Operations Center auditorium. Mr. Alphonsa Green, the Recruiting Policy Branch Chief within the Army G-1 at the Pentagon, was the guest speaker. Green took those in attendance on a walk through the history of Veterans Day. He touched on the theme “How did we get here from there?”

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A noted expert on cultural differences at the office combined rich content with use-tomorrow tools to speak to a gathering in Columbus. Haydn Shaw spoke to associates at DLA Land and Maritime Oct. 17 about the skills needed to understand the multi-generational workforce.

During a Nov. 2 presentation about disaster preparedness during winter months at Defense Supply Center Columbus, Christopher Williams, a community response coordinator for Franklin County, Ohio said many common dangers are amplified during severe cold weather.

Experts promote winter safety at DSCC

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Associates at Defense Supply Center Columbus are taking steps to prepare for cold weather, including learning about hazards that become more frequent during the winter months.

The Honorable Robert Rigsby, an associate judge with the District of Columbia's Superior Court, speaks at the Federal Executive Association's annual workshop Nov. 7 at Defense Supply Center Columbus. The FEA sponsors the workshop each year to improve and leverage coordination between central Ohio's federal organizations.

Workshop aims to increase resiliency in federal workforce

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Employees from government agencies across central Ohio were at Defense Supply Center Columbus Nov. 7 for a leadership workshop presented by the Federal Executive Association.

Allan Day signs the final structural beam that will be placed on Phase I of the new DLA Aviation Operations Center at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, in a “topping off” ceremony held on the construction site Nov. 3, 2016. The beam will go in one of the elevator shafts and finalizes the framing of the building. The Phase I building should be completed and ready for occupancy by DLA Aviation employees between December 2017 and January 2018.

Ceremony marks last steel beam to frame new Aviation Ops Center

Richmond, Va. — Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Commander Brig. Gen. Allan Day participated in a topping off ceremony Nov. 3, as the last structural beam to be placed on Phase I of the new DLA Aviation Operations Center at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, was signed. Hensel Phelps, the contractor constructing the building, along with representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Norfolk District, and DLA Installation Support at Richmond, were also at the event, which marked a milestone in the ongoing construction project, which officially began Oct. 15, 2015, in a ground breaking ceremony.

Ceremony marks new leadership in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A new era was ushered in at Defense Supply Center Columbus as Navy Rear Adm. Michelle Skubic took over command of DLA Land and Maritime during a ceremony at the Operations Center auditorium Oct. 31.

August EOM awarded to Army CW4 in Richmond

Richmond, Virginia — Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s August Employee of the Month Award is Aviation’s only active duty Army Chief Warrant Officer 4, Kevin Ryan, a readiness officer for the Customer Operations Directorate.

Air Force Col. Ken Ruthardt, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation commander at Oklahoma City, drops off rice at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma donation box on Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma in support of the Feds Feed Families Program, which runs annually from June through August. Both DLA Aviation and DLA Distribution supported Feds Feed Families this year by challenging each other to a “food fight” to see who could donate the most food to the program.

DLA Orgs in Oklahoma City challenge each other to raise food for families

Richmond, Va. — The Feds Feed Families Campaign is an annual event that runs from June through August of each year for federal government organizations to collect food for local food banks. This year, Defense Logistics Agency organizations at Oklahoma City took the campaign to next level with a "Food Fight Challenge” between DLA Aviation and DLA Distribution, both located on Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma.
