Columbus mayor visits DSCC

COLUMBUS, Ohio — DLA Land and Maritime Commander, Navy Rear Admiral Michelle Skubic welcomed Columbus, Ohio Mayor Andrew Ginther for a familiarization visit to the Defense Supply Center (DSCC) Columbus installation January 10. Ginther’s visit included an initial meeting with Skubic and her senior leadership team prior to receiving selected operations briefings.

Due to impending inclement weather, all Defense Logistics Agency organizations and tenant activities on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, are closed for operations Saturday, Jan. 7, and Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017.

RICHMOND, Virginia — Ben Harvey has been chosen as deputy director for DLA Distribution Richmond, Va.

Richmond, Virginia — Employees of DLA Aviation Customer Operations Mapping held a holiday luncheon for many of their children, Dec. 20, in their office on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. The children enjoyed music, and snacks while they made Christmas cards to attach to the gifts, purchased by employees, to donate to the children who are patients at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Employees kickoff the holiday season with Tree Lighting ceremony, holiday music, talent show

Richmond, Virginia — Employees filled the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center Dec. 14 during the annual Tree Lighting ceremony on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, kicking off the holiday season with a musical performance by Bensley Elementary School’s 5th Grade Choir, the Holiday Talent Competition, and a wreath competition.

Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, was recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration as a Star Worksite in safety under OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program Dec. 12, 2016 in a ceremony in the Frank Lotts Conference Center on the installation. The OSHA VPP recognizes employers and workers in federal agencies and in private industry who have implemented effective safety and health management systems and maintain injury and illness rates below national Bureau of Labor Statistics averages for the respective industries.

Culture change leads to Defense Supply Center Richmond earning OSHA safety star status

Richmond, Virginia — Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, home of Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, DLA Installation Support at Richmond and many other DLA organizations has received star status in safety by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

DLA Pathways to Career Excellence Program graduate Dec. 13 during a ceremony at DLA Troop Support in Philadelphia. The 56 graduates completed the two-year training program through on-the-job assignments, cross-training, rotational assignments and formal training.

RICHMOND, Va. — There was an air of excitement on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, at the Defense Logistics Agency Installation Support at Richmond’s fire station Dec. 8 as employees drove through the fire truck bay dropping off gifts for the 113 angels adopted from Chesterfield County and Richmond City Public Schools.
