DSCC buzzing with activities as kids celebrate Take Your Child to Work Day

Under overcast skies the Defense Supply Center Columbus’ Take Your Child to Work Day kicked off in the building 20 auditorium for the more than 150 children ages 9-17 and their parents. Activities included safety presentations to raise awareness, physical activities like dodgeball, basketball, jump rope, and a visit to Land and Maritime’s Electronics Testing Lab.

“Take your Daughters and Sons to Work Day” was celebrated at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, April 28. More than 160 children from various Defense Logistics Agency activities on DSCR participated in the annual event, which was sponsored by the Strategic Acquisitions Directorate and the Equal Employment Opportunity Office.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Denim Day was an event which encouraged people to wear jeans (denim) to help raise awareness and promote prevention of rape and sexual assaults. Land and Maritime leadership approved Wed., April 27th as a command sponsored opportunity to show support for Denim Day.

Supplier Industry Day provides engagement opportunities

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s Supplier Industry Day kicked off April 19 in the Lotts Conference Center on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. According to DLA Aviation Director of Supplier Operations Navy CAPT Robert Keating, who provided the opening remarks, it was the largest Supplier Industry Day to date, with more than 100 vendors attending.

Urgency drives DLA Puget Sound team in maintaining ballistic-missile submarines

The design of the Ohio-class submarine allows the vessel to operate 15 or more years between major overhauls. On average, the submarines spend 77 days at sea followed by only 35 days in-port for maintenance, creating urgency for on-shore personnel who must ensure the vessel is ready when called back to action.
