Schulz was one of two Airmen tasked with changing the oil of six vehicles which will be testing a new bio-based synthetic oil which could potentially help the Air Force’s initiative to use more sustainable materials and be environmentally conscious.

Sign language interpreter training focuses on Middle Eastern culture

Richmond, Va. — Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s Equal Employment Opportunity Office hosted a Federal Interpreter Training Workshop April 8 in Chester, Virginia.

Urgency drives DLA Puget Sound team in maintaining ballistic-missile submarines

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The design of the Ohio-class submarine allows the vessel to operate 15 or more years between major overhauls. On average, the submarines spend 77 days at sea followed by only 35 days in-port for maintenance, creating urgency for on-shore personnel who must ensure the vessel is ready when called back to action.

Defense Supply Center Columbus held its annual Shred Day April 20 on the installation. Associates were encouraged to bring anything they wanted shredded, including personal and work documents. DSCC’s Environmental Division processed 7.56 Tons of paper, which translates to saving 129 trees and 38 cubic yards of landfill.

DSCC Shred Day accomplishes goal

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Defense Supply Center Columbus held its annual Shred Day April 20 on the installation. Associates were encouraged to bring anything they wanted shredded, including personal and work documents. DSCC’s Environmental Division processed 7.56 Tons of paper, which translates to saving 129 trees and 38 cubic yards of landfill.

King’s ship sets sail after more than 30 years in the Navy

COLUMBUS, Ohio — After more than 30 years serving as a naval officer, outgoing Land and Maritime Commander Navy Rear Admiral John King King officially retired and is transitioning to the next chapter in his life. “It’s just been unbelievable how fast my time here at Land and Maritime has flown by and I have to tell you I’ve been extremely fortunate to work with such an inspired group of professionals,” said King.

Active Shooter Training held at DSCR

RICHMOND, Va. — Defense Logistics Agency Installation Support at Richmond’s Security and Emergency Services hosted Active Shooter Training April 13-14 for Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia employees in the Lotts Conference Center.

Info fair kicks off month of sexual assault awareness and prevention at DSCC

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM) formally kicked off at the Defense Supply Center Columbus during an information fair held inside Building 20. The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime's FMWR Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) office planned the April 6 event to showcase weekly activities taking place throughout the month.

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation will soon launch its “We Care Aviation” mobile application to provide instant access to information on sexual assault and prevention, as well as suicide prevention. Sexual assault prevention and response resources soon to be available via mobile application

April is Sexual Assault and Prevention Month. “Eliminate Sexual Assault: Know Your Part, Do Your Part” is this year’s theme. To help provide on-the-spot employee resources, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation will soon field a new mobile application called “We Care Aviation.”

Battelle is the world’s largest nonprofit research and development organization, with over 22,000 employees at more than 60 locations globally. The headquarters in Columbus hosted a group of military personnel from DLA Land and Maritime on a tour March 24.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two dozen service members from Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime toured Battelle Memorial Institute’s Columbus, Ohio headquarters March 24 as part of the agency’s local strategic industry engagement efforts. The regular trips seek to engage and coordinate with organizations in the community which share comparable values and goals with DLA.

Senior Executive Partnership Roundtable held at Defense Supply Center Richmond

RICHMOND, VA — The Senior Executive Partnership Roundtable took place at the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, April 6. The SEPRT gathers senior executives from the 16 strategic supplier alliances to meet with the Defense Logistics Agency leadership and customer senior leaders to discuss general issues affecting Defense Logistics Agency Aviation suppliers.

FMWR offers spring and summer events for employees

Spring is in the air and warm weather is coming, even though in Virginia, we sometimes wonder when it will finally get here. Defense Logistics Agency Installation Support at Richmond’s Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Office is busy planning spring and summer activities. They also have a variety of summer equipment available for employees to rent and discount tickets for amusement parks, movies, and sporting events.
