DLA Aviation Operations Officer and Chief of Staff
Steve Kinskie is the Operations Officer and Chief of Staff for DLA Aviation, a major subordinate command of the Defense Logistics Agency, Fort Belvoir, Va. DLA Aviation is the aviation demand and supply chain manager for DLA with more than 3,600 civilian and military personnel. DLA Aviation supports more than 2,200 weapon systems and is the U.S. military's integrated materiel manager for more than 1.2 million national stock number items, industrial retail supply and depot-level repairable acquisitions.
Mr. Kinskie serves as the primary advisor to the DLA Aviation commander and deputy commander in formulating program goals, long-range plans, schedules, and policies. As Operations Officer, Mr. Kinskie manages the daily basic business of the aviation demand and supply chains and acts as the single point of accountability and authority to integrate across demand, planning and supply chain operations to provide timely and agile response to wholesale and retail demand. Additionally, he oversees the development and execution of the DLA Aviation Strategic Sourcing Plan.
He retired in May 2014 after 26 years of service in the Navy. His most recent positions include: Director of Strategic Acquisition Programs and Operations Officer, DLA Aviation; and Director, Fleet Ordnance and Supply, United States Fleet Forces Command.
His education includes a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Washington, a Master of Science in operations research from the Naval Post Graduate School, and a Master of Science in national resource strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He is also a graduate of the Fuqua School of Business Advanced Management Program.
