For proper implementation, users must consult the detailed guidance and business rules contained within the applicable IC.
  • Governing Standards: All data elements are governed by the Accredited Standards Committee X12 (ASC X12) and the policies within DLM 4000.25, Defense Logistics Management Standards (DLMS). The ASC X12 is the governing source for X12, which is an electronic data interchange (EDI) standard.

  856S REF01 PWC Preliminary Work Candidate Number Used for preliminary notification that an order for material (requisition) is being prepared for future submission to a supply source Applicable for DLA industrial activity support agreements 1. Use to identify carrier tracking (PRO) number (when carrier is other than the United States Postal Service).   856S REF04-01 0N Attached To Use to identify the Lot Size for the lot number identified 1. Use with REF01 Code �BT� to identify the quantity at the batch or lot level. This is only used on the parent HL02 shipment loop. 2. When REF01 Code �BT� is at the parent HL02 shipment loop, the total quantity must match the shipment quantity reported in SN102. 1/50

  856S REF04-01 CT Contract Number A standard unique identification of a DoD procurement contract (contract number) that specifically differentiates one contract from all other contracts 1. Must use for CAV shipment status, to identify the procurement instrument identifier (PIID) authorizing repair/return of GFP. Use the legacy procurement instrument identification number (PIIN) pending transition to the PIID. When procurement is authorized under a PIID call/order number (F in 9th position), provide the value in the PIID field. For Other Transaction (OT) agreements, the type of instrument (9th position of PIID) will be a 3 for Research OTs or 9 for Prototype and Production OTs. Refer to ADC 1161A or ADC 1420. 2.   856S REF04-01 SE Serial Number A value assigned for identification of an item 1. Use for ammunition materials when the material is managed by both batch/lot and serial number. 2. The serial number may not exceed 30 characters and may only include alphanumeric characters, dashes, and forward slashes. Spaces are not allowed. 3. DLMS enhancement: See introductory DLMS Note 2f. 1/30
  856S REF04-01 W1 Disposal Turn-In Document Number Transaction number under which material was shipped to a DLA Disposition Services Field Office 1. Use to identify the DTID number when provided as a secondary reference number. The DTID number is used by DLA Disposition Services as a unique number to identify property that was turned into a DLA Disposition Service Field Office. The value of the DTID may be the original turn-in document number or may be a unique control number (UCN) assigned by the Field Office during receipt processing when the original DTID number is not adequate to uniquely identify the property. DLMS Enhancement, see ADC 422 2. For DLA Disposition Service Field Office shipments, when there is no Suffix Code associated with the customer�s Document Number, enter the correlating DTID in the REF04-02.   856S REF04-01 W8 Suffix Use to identify supply transaction partial actions taken on the original document without duplicating or causing loss of identity of the original document number 1.
