Workforce must follow rules set by Hatch Act

As local, state and federal elections approach, employees must be aware of the law restricting political expression in the federal workplace, during duty hours, or on federal property at any time. All civilian employees of DLA are required to abide by the Hatch Act of 1939.

Saving energy on DoD’s largest joint base

The U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center announced a new energy savings performance contract to increase energy resiliency at the Department of Defense’s largest joint base, Joint Base San Antonio in Texas, Sept. 28. As an execution agent for Joint Base San Antonio and Air Force Civil Engineer Center, Defense Logistics Agency Energy’s Installation Energy team awarded an Energy Savings Performance Contract.

Benjamin “Gil” Perkins inducted as the 2018 Hall of Fame recipient

For his dedicated service and contributions to Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, Benjamin “Gil” Perkins, former DLA Aviation chief counsel was inducted into the 2018 DLA Aviation Hall of Fame Sept. 27. Perkins retired in 2015 after 34 years of service.

New DLA mapping process saves money, time while improving support

DLA Information Operations must provide a copy of each of its 165,000-plus maps, charts and other products to the Library of Congress. A DLA team, working with the LOC and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, developed a new way to do so that will save taxpayers about $800,000 in the next five years, while making these products more accessible.

Air Force awards $143 million energy savings contract at DoD’s largest joint base

Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Air Force Civil Engineer Center website — The Air Force Civil Engineer Center Energy Directorate’s Program Development division worked together with Joint Base San Antonio, Texas, and the Defense Logistics Agency Energy to award an energy savings performance contract valued at nearly $143 million to increase energy resiliency at the Department of Defense’s largest joint base. Ameresco, Inc. has been awarded the contract to support all areas of JBSA and provide more than $285 million in total cost savings over the 22-year financed term of the contract.

Prepare to log in to your phone starting October 12

Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime associates will soon experience changes to phone use as part of the Agency’s deployment of new telephone services. Starting Oct. 12, DLA Information Operations will implement the Extension Mobility feature for Enterprise Voice over Internet Protocol systems in Columbus – joining other DLA major subordinate commands to make the move in recent months. Some phone numbers are exempt from the roll out, including conference rooms, emergency services, command and other identified telephone lines.

DLA Troop Support provides food, generators, other materials for Hurricane Florence relief efforts
