Walk a mile in the boots of a maintainer

RASMTEIN AIR BASE, Germany — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Ramstein Air Force Base website — On average, 521st Air Mobility Wing’s 721st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron inspects, services, and repairs 30 aircraft in a single day. In one weekend, they are typically responsible for more missions than all the other squadrons in the European and Pacific Commands handle in a month combined.

William Moore, the assistant deputy chief of staff for the Army logistics enterprise, along with Barbara Sotirin, director of the U.S. Army Logistics Innovation Agency, visited DLA Distribution Jan. 18 to receive a command briefing and tour of the largest distribution center in the Department of Defense.

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — William Moore, the assistant deputy chief of staff for the Army logistics enterprise, along with Barbara Sotirin, director of the U.S. Army Logistics Innovation Agency, visited DLA Distribution Jan. 18 to receive a command briefing and tour of the largest distribution center in the Department of Defense.

The 459th ARW’s central mission is to provide in-flight refueling capabilities to joint mission partners across the globe during exercises and critical missions through the deployment and maintenance of the KC-135R Stratotankers.

DLA Distribution honored with Energy award

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Oklahoma City, Okla., was honored with the 2016 Federal Energy and Water Management Award in December for implementing a process to convert existing steam heating to a more efficient natural gas heating system in eight of its facilities.

Squadron serves as strong link in OIR supply chain
