Independent Public Accountant audit kicks off at DLA Distribution

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — DLA Distribution, along with DLA Aviation and DLA Headquarters J3, J6, and J8 personnel, hosted Kearney & Company, the CPA firm that will perform the independent public audit at DLA Distribution.

Carolyn Coker, material examiner and Identifier supervisor at DLA Distribution Oklahoma City, Okla., has been chosen as the Employee of the Quarter for the first quarter of fiscal year 2016.

Distribution Oklahoma City’s Employee of the Quarter

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma — Carolyn Coker, supervisory material examiner and identifier at DLA Distribution Oklahoma City, Okla., has been selected as the Employee of the Quarter for the first quarter of fiscal year 2016.

Agency employees help sailors ship out their hazardous wastes

Yokosuka, Japan — When used oils or fluids from Navy ships at Yokosuka, Japan, need to be disposed of, sailors turn to DLA Disposition Services for help.

April is Sexual Assault and Prevention Month. “Eliminate Sexual Assault: Know Your Part, Do Your Part” is this year’s theme. Defense Logistics Agency Aviation will soon launch its “We Care Aviation” mobile application to provide instant access to information on sexual assault and prevention, as well as suicide prevention. Sexual assault prevention and response resources soon to be available via mobile application

April is Sexual Assault and Prevention Month. “Eliminate Sexual Assault: Know Your Part, Do Your Part” is this year’s theme. To help provide on-the-spot employee resources, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation will soon field a new mobile application called “We Care Aviation.”

Battelle is the world’s largest nonprofit research and development organization, with over 22,000 employees at more than 60 locations globally. The headquarters in Columbus hosted a group of military personnel from DLA Land and Maritime on a tour March 24.

Land and Maritime military members get inside look at research facility

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two dozen service members from Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime toured Battelle Memorial Institute’s Columbus, Ohio headquarters March 24 as part of the agency’s local strategic industry engagement efforts. The regular trips seek to engage and coordinate with organizations in the community which share comparable values and goals with DLA.

Senior Executive Partnership Roundtable held at Defense Supply Center Richmond

RICHMOND, VA — The Senior Executive Partnership Roundtable took place at the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, April 6. The SEPRT gathers senior executives from the 16 strategic supplier alliances to meet with the Defense Logistics Agency leadership and customer senior leaders to discuss general issues affecting Defense Logistics Agency Aviation suppliers.

As part of the DLA Strategic Goal #2 – People and Culture, DLA encourages its employees to take advantage of the resources available to become more resilient, at work and at home.

DLA encourages its workforce to become more resilient

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Daily life is constantly throwing us curve balls. Work and home life do not always go as planned. Your boss assigns you an important project with a short suspense date. Your toddler comes down with the flu and is unable to go to daycare. Now you are at home with a sick child and your work is piling up on your desk. Add to that, you are leaving for a business trip in three days.

DLA director stresses audit sustainment and Process Excellence to workforce

DLA Director Air Force Lt. Gen. Andy Busch and members of DLA’s Strategic Plans and Policy division left no doubt that audit sustainment and Process Excellence remain a top priority for the agency. The director hosted an all-hands town hall meeting on the subject at the McNamara Headquarters Complex April 12.

FMWR offers spring and summer events for employees

Spring is in the air and warm weather is coming, even though in Virginia, we sometimes wonder when it will finally get here. Defense Logistics Agency Installation Support at Richmond’s Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Office is busy planning spring and summer activities. They also have a variety of summer equipment available for employees to rent and discount tickets for amusement parks, movies, and sporting events.
