First RAB meeting of 2016 held

RICHMOND, Virginia — Community members attended the Defense Logistics Agency Installation Support at Richmond’s environmental cleanup program quarterly Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) meeting January 11 at the Bensley Community Center in Chesterfield County.DLA Installation Support at Richmond's environmental office conducted the quarterly RAB meeting and provided program updates on groundwater testing results and remediation activities for operable units on center.

Construction is underway on the new Defense Logistics Agency Aviation operations center on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. Phase I of the project is scheduled to be complete by late summer 2018. When completed, the five-story building will house roughly 875 employees.

DLA Aviation Operations Center Phase I construction in full swing

RICHMOND, Virginia — Construction on the new five-story Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Operations Center on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia is in full swing and a great deal of progress has been made since the groundbreaking ceremony back on Oct. 15, 2015.

DLA forging and casting investment continues to provide returns 25 years later

In the early 1990s, Defense Logistics Agency recognized the need to invest in future technology; the agency saw that some once-robust domestic supply chains were disappearing, fragmenting or going overseas. Now, 25-plus years later, the agency’s forging and casting initiative is yielding benefits from knowledge shared by industry, the military services and DLA Aviation.

Ogden material supply technician named DLA Aviation’s November Employee of the Month

RICHMOND, Virginia — Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s November Employee of the Month (EOM) is Gregory LaRue. He serves as a material support technician for the Customer Operations Directorate of DLA Aviation at Ogden, Utah. DLA Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Allan Day presented the award to LaRue during a ceremony via video teleconference Jan. 6.

DLA Aviation helps ensure safe transportation of vital equipment

RICHMOND, Virginia — Cindy Hunt is a contract specialist in Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s Engines and Airframes Division. She has been a buyer for tie down adjusters since 2007. “The tie down adjuster has been a high visibility item for our division as it is a high demand item for troops around the world,” said Hunt.

It was standing room only in the McKeever Auditorium Jan 5 as Defense Logistics Agency Aviation employees gathered in a ceremony honoring Marine Corps 1st Sgt. Phu Cao’s promotion to the rank of master gunnery sergeant.

DLA to hold Restoration Advisory Board meeting Jan. 11 in Chesterfield

RICHMOND, Va. — Defense Logistics Agency officials from Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia will host a Restoration Advisory Board meeting at 7:30 p.m., Jan. 11, 2016 at the Bensley Community Center located at 2900 Drewry's Bluff Rd., North Chesterfield, Virginia 23237. The meeting is open to the public.

DLA Aviation holds Resiliency Training: expands employees' skills in dealing with life pressures

RICHMOND, Virginia — A long-established initiative by the military services, resiliency training was offered for the first time at Defense Logistics Agency to Aviation employees at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, Dec. 16. This event introduced the resiliency concept and the resiliency tools available, including mental, physical, social, and spiritual training.

Phillip Brashear, who is an weapons systems program manager for Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, and an Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 and pilot in the U.S. Army Reserves, graduated from the two-month CH-47F Aviator Qualifications/Instructor Pilot (Transition) Course at Fort Rucker, Alabama, Dec. 15, 2015.

RICHMOND, Virginia — Phillip Brashear, who is a weapons systems program manager for Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, and an Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 and pilot in the U.S. Army Reserves, graduated from the two-month CH-47F Aviator Qualifications/Instructor Pilot (Transition) Course at Fort Rucker, Alabama, Dec. 15, 2015.

DLA Aviation employee receives DAW Individual Achievement Award

RICHMOND, Virginia — Defense Logistics Agency Aviation employee Marsha Barron received the 2015 Defense Acquisition Workforce Individual Achievement Award in the category of Production, Quality, and Manufacturing Dec. 10 at the Pentagon’s Hall of Heroes in Arlington, Virginia. Barron is a technical quality supervisor for Supplier Operations Directorate at DLA Aviation in Richmond, Virginia.
