Awareness and tips for emergency calls emphasized during National 9-1-1 Education Month

National 9-1-1 Education Month is observed annually in the month of April at the Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. The 9-1-1 system serves as the vital link between the public and emergency responders. It is intended as a nationwide telephone number and gives the public fast and easy access to a public safety answering point.

We all have our daily routines. We go to work, stop by the store, maybe pick up our kids from school and travel home. We usually do not alter our routines unless something unusual occurs. It is the unusual events or unique observations that Defense Logistics Agency, Installation Management Richmond’s Security and Emergency Services wants to hear about! To assist you with reporting these unusual occurrences, DLA has developed a program called DLA iWatch.

Robert Sheffield, a descendant of Sir Thomas Sheffield who in 1619 owned 2,000 acres of the land now known as Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, visited the installation March 19.

Respected and highly impressive performers earn DLA Aviation’s employee of the month honors for January

Reggie Sanders, a sustainment specialist within the Planning Division at Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Jacksonville, Florida, and June Leeper, , a contracting specialist within the Emergency Contract Support Division at DLA Aviation at San Diego, California, were selected as DLA Aviation’s Employees of the Month for January. Leeper won in the general schedule 10-13 category. Sanders took the award in the GS 1-9 category.
