Three Defense Logistics Agency Rapid Deployment Teams stand ready to help military and federal agencies supporting global emergencies like humanitarian assistance and pandemic response. Employees on the cross-functional, 13-member red, white and blue teams are trained to immediately deploy wherever they’re needed.

911 awareness procedures help DSCR employees

National 911 Awareness Month is observed every April on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. The 911 system serves as a vital link between emergency responders and the public. The number gives the public a single, simple way to call for help in the event of a fire or other emergency. 911 was chosen as the national emergency phone number during the days of rotary telephones because the 9 and the 1 were easy to find on the dial.

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation answered an emergency request for nautical charts from the Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort in just three hours a little more than a week before it left Norfolk, Virginia, for New York City, where it’s providing critical COVID-19 support.

DLA Aviation at Ogden employee first to graduate from Air Force Leadership School

When Tara Sugimoto, materials expediter supervisor, Storage and Distribution Division, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Ogden, Utah, graduated from the six-week course held at Hill Air Force Base, Utah on Mar. 24, she was not only the lone civilian amongst 42 uniformed personnel, she also became the first DLA Aviation at Ogden employee to ever do so.

Aviation signs contract to certify engine part built through additive manufacturing process for airworthiness

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, the Air Force and General Electric signed a contract March 17 to construct and evaluate an engine part for airworthiness produced using additive manufacturing processes. It is a first for DLA and the Air Force.
