DLA Distribution announces third quarter award winners

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — DLA Distribution has announced the winners of the fiscal year 2016 third quarter Employee of the Quarter, Team of the Quarter, Mission Impact and Big Ideas awards.

David "D.J." Smith Sanchez makes sure he clears the bar while competing as a member of the Auburn University track team. He is competing as a member of the Puerto Rican National Olympic Team at this summer’s Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro in honor of his maternal grandfather who born in Puerto Rico and passed away two years ago. His dad, David Smith, is a customer support technician at DLA Aviation at Warner Robins, Georgia.

Aviation employee’s son going for Olympic gold in Rio

RICHMOND, VA — Whether it’s watching Michael Phelps and Simone Manuel in the pool, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving on the basketball court or the U.S. women’s gymnastics team, the excitement of the 2016 summer Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro can cause your heart to race.

Troop Support pharmacist inducted into Order of Military Medical Merit

PHILADELPHIA — The chief pharmacist at DLATroop Support began his Army medical career as a Special Forces medic. Twenty-five years later, his distinguished service earned Maj. Randall Sweeney induction into the Order of Military Medical Merit.

"Taking Safety to Victory Lane" at National Night Out

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — On Aug. 2, employees, installation residents, and community gathered for Defense Distribution Center Susquehanna’s annual National Night Out. This year’s theme, “Taking Safety to Victory Lane,” was presented through family-oriented activities with the goal of promoting community involvement in preventing crime and drug use, strengthening police and community relations, and encouraging neighborhood camaraderie.

New awarded Legion of Merit for career accomplishments, culminating at Susquehanna distribution center

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Army Col. Corey A. New, commander of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Susquehanna, Pa., has been awarded the Legion of Merit for his distinguished 25-year military career. New will retire in a ceremony tomorrow, Aug. 5, prior to the organization’s change of command ceremony, where New will relinquish command to Army Col. Brad Eungard.

Channel 10 sports anchor Dom Tiberi spent an hour with associates from Defense Supply Center Columbus inside the Building 20 auditorium July 21 sharing the story of his own 21-year-old daughter Maria, who was killed on Sept. 17, 2013, in an accident that was likely the result of distracted driving.

Enlisted Excellence at DLA Maritime Pearl Harbor
