Defense Distribution Center: Continually transforming to meet customer needs

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — There is no doubt that audit readiness and process excellence are top priorities for DLA Distribution. Continuous process improvement is the hub of process excellence. As a result, the Defense Distribution Susquehanna, Pa., installation has transformed over the years as the needs of the warfighters have changed.

Aviation Process Excellence policy rolls out

RICHMOND, Va. — Defense Logistics Agency Aviation leaders gathered in the Lotts Conference Center June 14 as DLA Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Allan Day signed the DLA Aviation Process Excellence, or APEx, policy officially making APEx the system of choice to be used throughout the organization for process management.

DLA Aviation helps sustain America’s first long-range bomber for another 30 plus years

RICHMOND, VA — If you’ve ever been fortunate enough to see an Air Force B-52 bomber up close on the ground or in the air, you fully understand its sheer magnitude. Built by Boeing, the B-52 Stratofortress is more than 40 feet high, has a wingspan of 185 feet, and is 160 feet long. To put that into perspective, that’s 25 feet wider and a little less than half the length of a regulation football field.

New maintenance response vehicle helps disabled GOVs get back on the road

RICHMOND, Va. — Defense Logistics Agency Installation Support at Richmond’s Customer Support Division has developed and built a new General Services Administration maintenance response vehicle, known in short as a MRV, to respond to disabled government vehicles on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia.

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation will soon begin using a new DLA Aviation Process Excellence methodology known as APEx. APEx tools, like the Leadership Model tool, enhance the way we manage, evaluate, refine, and communicate process design.

DLA director stresses audit sustainment and Process Excellence to workforce

DLA Director Air Force Lt. Gen. Andy Busch and members of DLA’s Strategic Plans and Policy division left no doubt that audit sustainment and Process Excellence remain a top priority for the agency. The director hosted an all-hands town hall meeting on the subject at the McNamara Headquarters Complex April 12.
