Investment in 3D printing helps Team Edwards’ fleet aloft

AFRL and partners reclaim obsolete aircraft parts using advanced manufacturing technology

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base website — The average age of Air Force aircraft is over 28 years according to Assessment of Military Power, 2018. This creates a constant requirement for components needing repair or replacement. Parts can be difficult to acquire when original suppliers are no longer in existence and new suppliers have no desire to produce low volume quantities.

U.S., Australia new C-17 maintenance arrangement enhances readiness, cooperation

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Air Mobility Command website — U.S. Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force officials implemented a new maintenance arrangement for the C-17 that will improve strategic airlift efficiency and fleet readiness.

S.C. Air maintainers overcome harsh conditions in Sweden

KALLAX AIR BASE, SWEDEN — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the National Guard website — After years of perfecting how to operate in overseas desert environments, the Swamp Foxes from the South Carolina Air National Guard flipped the script by deploying to northern Sweden for Arctic Challenge Exercise 19. Unpredictable weather, the remote location and unexpected major maintenance difficulties provided Swamp Fox maintainers plenty of problems to work through during their three-week TDY in support of the Nordic exercise.
