Need it fast? Marines can print it

MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Marine Corps Systems Command website — In the last few years, the Marine Corps has increased its exploration of additive manufacturing, or 3D printing, to quickly replace parts for weapons, vehicles and equipment. Most recently, Marines at the Mountain Warfare Training Center and the AM Team at Marine Corps Systems Command came up with a solution to print out same-day snowshoe clips.

3-D printer-capable Marines with 31st MEU print replacement part for F-35B

AT SEA, USS WASP, Pacific Ocean — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Marines website — Marines with Combat Logistic Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, are now capable of ‘additive manufacturing,’ also known as 3-D printing.

Several members from throughout Air Force Materiel Command (HQ AFMC/A4, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Air Force Research Lab, and contractors) descended on Edwards AFB to test out a new hybrid flightline generator the last week of March. They teamed up with members of the 412th Logistics Test Squadron to test their Hybrid Flightline Generator Technology Pathfinder on an F-16 fighter, KC-135 tanker and C-17 cargo plane.
