JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Joint Base Andrews website — Senior Airman Jaramie York, 459th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron maintainer, is one of more than 1,300 citizen Airmen and civilian employees assigned to the 459th Air Refueling Wing, an Air Force Reserve mission partner of the 11th Wing. The 459th ARW’s central mission is to provide in-flight refueling capabilities to joint mission partners across the globe during exercises and critical missions through the deployment and maintenance of the KC-135R Stratotankers.

Squadron serves as strong link in OIR supply chain

AL ASAD AIR BASE, Iraq — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the U.S. Air Force Central Command website — Constant loading and offloading of various items to and from aircraft requires careful coordination among the aerial porters of the 870th Air Expeditionary Advisory Squadron and they rely on each other’s expertise to efficiently perform their mission.

Munitions specialist exemplifies creative thinking

HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Air Combat Command website — Innovation isn’t a foreign concept in the Air Force. However, the 49th Maintenance Squadron Munitions Flight is taking the concept to the next level. A 49th MXS munitions specialist took it upon himself to create an inventory accountability program to better track the thousands of dollars in ammo assets.

Navy Cargo Handling Battalion 1 Returns to Support Operation Deep Freeze

WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the U.S. Pacific Command website — Sailors assigned to Navy Cargo Handling Battalion 1 deployed to Antarctica in mid-January to support the U.S. Antarctic Program, the nation's research program on the southernmost continent, which is managed by the National Science Foundation.
