DLA Land and Maritime wraps up food drive, launches pledge campaign

Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime and the Defense Supply Center Columbus recently showed community support through food drives and charitable giving. The DSCC workforce concluded a month-long food drive, collecting 9,143 pounds of goods that will go on to support more than 525,000 individuals in Central Ohio.

DSCC and DLA Land and Maritime Commander Navy Rear Adm. John Palmer hosted the 21st Annual Commander’s Cup at the Eagle Eye Golf Course Sept. 7. The event builds comradery across various directorates and tenants on the installation.

Local county emergency alert - Information on how to sign up

As part of National Preparedness Month, all personnel are encouraged to sign up for Local County Alerts for the county they reside and work. These systems are used to alert users of a terrorist situation, an emergency in a suburb, weather alerts or any emergency. Links to Franklin and surrounding counties to sign-up to receive alerts are listed below.

A chance encounter between a homeless Marine Corps Purple Heart recipient and a Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime associate on a regular grocery store run gave birth to a grassroots effort to make a difference and changed the course of two lives in the process.

DLA Land and Maritime associates race across Ohio

Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime associates spent their weekend running 131 miles for cancer awareness Aug 24-25, as part of the fourth annual Columbus to Cincinnati Relay Run. Team "Are We There Yet?" completed the two-day running adventure across Ohio and raised more than $2,800 to help in the fight against cancer.

The Defense Federal Community celebrated Women’s Equality Day Aug. 22 with an outdoor observance at the Defense Supply Center Columbus’ Mission Park marked by music, food and fellowship. “Today we celebrate the progress we’ve made to advance the full participation of women in the federal workplace,” said DSCC and Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Commander Navy Rear Adm. John Palmer.
