New policy to increase unreserved parking at HQC

More than two decades after the Defense Logistics Agency and other tenant organizations occupied the McNamara Headquarters Complex at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, the parking policy has been revised. DLA will now manage the policy for the entire complex.

Low-key elk transfer brings high expectations of success

Nearly 20 years ago, male and female elk from the Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia’s herd took on the honorable task of helping repopulate captive herds throughout the Commonwealth. “Historically, our elk helped populate the elk displays at various Virginia wildlife parks,” said Jimmy Parrish, chief, Environmental Management Division, DLA Installation Management Richmond.

Back then, EMS was a new profession and practitioners had only just started to be recognized as a critical component of emergency medicine and the public health safety net. EMS is now firmly established as an essential public function and a vital component of the medical care continuum.

DLA optimizes installation management

In early summer 2018, Defense Logistics Agency Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams rescinded a March 2017 change that separated DLA Installation Management and Installation Operations into distinct entities. The decision to “re-merge” the two offices to maintain the synergy, effectiveness and efficiency of having one Installation Management organization became effective August 6.
