DLA buys cloth face masks to protect DOD employees against coronavirus

The Defense Logistics Agency is proactively procuring cloth face masks to protect Defense Department employees against the coronavirus. The agency began working with American manufacturers to award contracts for reusable, non-surgical, cloth face masks in various styles soon after DOD released guidance requiring people to wear cloth masks on DOD property, installations and facilities in early April.

DLA Troop Support provides Passover, Easter food, religious items and needed comfort to servicemen, women overseas

With the upcoming Easter and Passover holidays, the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support is providing special meals and religious items to give some much needed comfort to servicemen and women deployed overseas, during these unprecedented times. Nearly 90,000 pounds of food and 159 religious item orders were sent to locations including Europe and the Middle East for holiday ceremonies and celebrations.

Wellness program helps build teams, improve workplace culture

A new program featuring monthly “Wellness Wednesdays” is in full swing at the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support. Started in partnership with the Industrial Hardware Culture Improvement Team and IH employee Megan Ward, the program aims to improve workforce culture through monthly meetings focused on a variety of wellness tips and techniques shared by fellow employees.

Charitable decorating contest brings joy to employees, food to community

Employees from the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support participated in a holiday decorating contest using non-perishable goods to create holiday displays. The festive scenes were judged based on several factors including festiveness, and the non-perishable elements are being donated to a food pantry to support local communities in need this holiday season.

DLA Troop Support ribbon cutting celebrates opening of new, state-of-the-art headquarters building

It is the start of a new era at the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support in Philadelphia, as employees and leaders celebrated the opening of its new, state-of-the-art headquarters building. The 108,500-square-foot, four-story building was completed in October 2019, and is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certified. A ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of construction was held on Dec. 10.

Mentor program continues philanthropy, expands workforce impact

Employees from a Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support mentoring program assembled care packages and wrote cards for deployed warfighters to support morale and resiliency at an event Dec. 3 in Philadelphia. The program began in the Industrial Hardware supply chain, but has become a cross-organizational collaborative program with mentors and mentees from all of Troop support’s supply chains.
