Clothing & Textiles employees meet blind, visually impaired partners in warfighter support

PHILADELPHIA — Employees with the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Clothing and Textiles supply chain toured production lines at Vision Corps in Lancaster, Pennsylvania July 26, where blind or visually impaired individuals operate machinery or package item parts for military customers.

DLA director hosts DLA Aviation change of command

Richmond, Va. — Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, employees filled the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center to capacity June 28 during the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Change of Command ceremony to bid farewell to Air Force Brig. Gen. Allan Day and welcome Air Force Brig. Gen. Linda Hurry as the next commander.

Employees gather for joint celebration of Army birthday

McNamara Headquarters Complex tenant agencies celebrated the Army’s 242nd birthday June 13 in the HQC auditorium. This year’s theme, “Over There,” harks back to another commemoration – the 100th anniversary of the United States’ entry into World War I.

Reservist at Troop Support honored for 32 years of service

PHILADELPHIA — Friends, family and colleagues celebrated the 32-year career of an Army reservist at the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support during a retirement ceremony June 4.

Senior Army logistician visits Troop Support

PHILADELPHIA — Lt. Gen. Aundre Piggee, the deputy chief of staff for Army logistics, or G4, got a closer look at how DLA Troop Support provides materials to the service, the organization’s largest customer.

Subsistence PaCER helps provide new performance bar to Army recruits

PHILADELPHIA — Army recruits in basic combat training will start eating nutritional snack bars this summer to help prevent injuries. And an employee in training at the DLA Troop Support is largely responsible for procuring the vitamin-packed treats for recruits.

Army Sgt. Leon H. Bell in 1919, after returning from World War I, at the home of his half-sister Lassie and brother-in-law, F.E. Carroll, Park Street, Beaumont, Texas. The U.S. Army continued to issue this uniform into the early days of World War II. DLA Troop Support now supplies all uniforms to U.S. military service members.

History Commentary: Mementos of the Trenches

The author reflects on what the items his grandfather brought home from WWI can tell us about the life of the American doughboy, 100 years after America joined the war on the side of the Allies.

The Army Jungle Combat Boot, now under development, features a low-height heel to prevent snags on things like vines in a jungle environment; additional drainage holes to let water out if it becomes completely soaked, speed laces so that soldiers can don and doff the boots more quickly, a redesigned upper to make the boots less tight when they are new, an insert that helps improve water drainage, a lining that helps the boot breathe better and dry faster; a ballistic fabric-like layer under a soldier's foot to help prevent punctures, and a foam layer between the rubber sole and the upper to provide greater shock absorbing capability. New Army Jungle Wear Gives ‘Trench Foot’ the Boot

Milley directed the Army to come up with a plan to outfit two full brigade combat teams in Hawaii, part of the 25th Infantry Division there, with a specialized jungle boot -- and Program Executive Officer Soldier, headquartered at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, had to get a plan together to make it happen.
