DLA director hosts DLA Aviation change of command

Richmond, Va. — Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, employees filled the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center to capacity June 28 during the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Change of Command ceremony to bid farewell to Air Force Brig. Gen. Allan Day and welcome Air Force Brig. Gen. Linda Hurry as the next commander.

Williams assumes responsibility as DLA director

Army Maj. Gen. (Promotable) Darrell Williams was promoted to lieutenant general and became the 19th director of the Defense Logistics Agency June 16 in a ceremony at the McNamara Headquarters Complex.

Air Force Gen. Robin Rand (left), Commander, Air Force Global Strike Command, and the service component commander to U.S. Strategic Command, presided over the retirement of DLA Director Air Force Lt. Gen. Andy Busch at DLA Headquarters, Fort Belvoir, Virginia May 4. The two are fellow graduates of the U.S. Air Force Academy Class of 1979. At the ceremony, Rand presented Busch with the Defense Distinguished Service Medal.

DLA director retires after 38-year Air Force career

Defense Logistics Agency Director Lt. Gen. Andy Busch marked the end of his 38-year Air Force career May 4 with a retirement ceremony at DLA Headquarters, Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Army general officer named new DLA director

The U.S. Senate confirmed May 1, Army Maj. Gen. Darrell K. Williams for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and his next assignment as Director, Defense Logistics Agency, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He will replace Air Force Lt. Gen. Andy Busch, who retires May 4.

Retired Navy Vice Adm. Al Thompson, who led DLA as director at a time when a surge in deployed personnel demanded a surge in critical equipment from DLA — and then led the agency through declining defense budgets — will join the Hall of Fame Sept. 20.
