DLA orders protective equipment for US nursing homes

The Defense Logistics Agency ordered about $134 million in personal protective equipment for U.S. nursing homes amid COVID-19. The White House Coronavirus Task Force requested the items, funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, to equip medical staffs at approximately 14,900 Medicaid- and Medicare-certified locations with 14 days of protective gear. Nursing homes will receive the gear in two shipments, each with seven days’ worth of PPE.

Troop Support provides essential supplies to floating hospitals

As the USNS Comfort and Mercy medical staffs care for patients on the East and West coasts, they are using supplies and equipment procured by the various Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support supply chains to perform their mission. The two Navy hospital ships, docked in New York City and Los Angeles, were deployed in March to relieve land-based hospitals overwhelmed by the COVID-19 epidemic.

Awareness walk culminates Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month

Clad in teal shirts emblazoned with the Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention logo, more than 200 Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support and fellow Naval Support Activity Philadelphia tenant employees walked a mile in support of SAAP month April 23 in Philadelphia. The “wave of teal,” as NSA-P’s Sexual Assault Prevention and Response program manager Navy Chief Petty Officer Felipe Vazquez called it, moved across the installation in a display of support for victims and dedication to the eradication of sexual assault, culminating a month of activities with the same SAPR focus.
