DLA delivers produce to Egyptian port, expands support in Red Sea

KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — “The delivery is more than a truck of fresh fruit and vegetables,” said Army Lt. Col. Sherdrick Rankin, DLA Troop Support Europe & Africa commander. “This effort brings a new capability to the Navy in the (U.S. Central Command) area of operations and expands support in the strategic waters of the Red Sea.”

New culinary outpost kiosks tested at Fort Stewart

Part of that sustainment piece focuses on food operations by implementing Culinary Outpost Kiosks in installations, starting with a pilot program at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

DLA Troop Support partners with Army, industry to bring food kiosks to soldiers

PHILADELPHIA — Subsistence employees in Philadelphia spent the last year conducting market intelligence research, strategizing with vendors and building new catalogs to bring Army Culinary Outpost Kiosks to life.

Process Improvement helps get food to troops overseas faster

PHILADELPHIA — Napoleon Bonaparte has been credited with saying that “an Army marches on its stomach.” As key players in making sure the military has the food they need to literally sustain America’s armed forces, employees from the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support’s Subsistence supply chain understand the importance of that concept. And when they saw potential to improve their process to feed the warfighter faster, they called in the Continuous Process Improvement Office to assist.

Culinary Specialists from the battalion spent entire night preparing over 640 lbs. of turkey, 558 lbs. of steamship round, 72 lbs. of shrimp, more than 100 pies, approximately 700 servings of sweet potatoes and approximately 800 servings of green bean casserole to serve during the brigade’s Thanksgiving feast the next day.

DLA Troop Support provides a taste of home for service members away for the holiday

PHILADELPHIA — Service members deployed overseas, as well as those serving at the United States’ southern border, get to experience a taste of home on Thanksgiving Day due to the efforts of Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support employees. “America’s military men and women continually make sacrifices to secure our freedom,” said Army Brig. Gen. Mark Simerly, DLA Troop Support commander. “It is our duty to show our gratitude by providing them the very best Thanksgiving meal our country has to offer.”
