Marine Corps turns 245

On this day, in 1775, the Second Continental Congress, meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed a resolution establishing the Marine Corps to augment naval forces in the Revolutionary War. The recruiting headquarters was set up in the Tun Tavern on Water Street in Philadelphia, which is considered to be the birthplace of the Marines.

Pumping iron returns to DSCR Fitness Center

Paul Henry, an electrician for Defense Logistics Agency Installation Management at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, seemed like a kid in the candy store as he moved from one piece of equipment to another inside the Fitness Center on DSCR. Working out there is something he hasn’t been able to do since it was shut down in early spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lead-acid a positive for the environment

Batteries aren’t exactly great for the environment, but recycling is. Employees from Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Richmond, DLA Installation Management Richmond and DLA Disposition Services Richmond, Virginia turned a negative into a positive Oct. 28 when they decided to return over 1,500 lead-acid batteries back to the manufacturer.
