Military Logisticians Prepare for Hurricane Irma

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Department of Defense website — In anticipation of Hurricane Irma's arrival, and while communities began stocking up on food and water, Florida’s Army and Air National Guard were already activating military personnel.

Two former military trucks, issued by DLA Disposition Services through the 1033 program to Texas law enforcement, depart the Texas Federal State Property San Antonio Office as the sun sets. The next morning the trucks were operating on the east side of Houston rescuing people from flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey.

Former military equipment aids hurricane relief efforts

Boats and vehicles that once supported U.S. armed forces personnel are now giving aid to those responding to Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

San Carlos Park Fire Fighters use a former military cargo truck to navigate flooded streets from heavy rains to rescue 210 people and 50 animals.

DoD Aids Preparation, Response Efforts for Hurricane Irma

WASHINGTON — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Department of Defense website — The Defense Department is engaged with federal, state, territorial and international mission partners and is postured to respond to requests for assistance to territories and states affected by Hurricane Irma.
