DLA Aviation provides critical part to hospital in the wake of Hurricane Maria

Richmond, Va. — The evening of Sept. 18, Hurricane Maria roared through the Island of Dominica as a Category 5 hurricane. A week later the Military Liaison Office in the Barbados and Eastern Caribbean U.S. Embassy reached out to Defense Logistics Agency Aviation with a critical support need from the main hospital in Roseau, the capital of the Caribbean island nation of Dominica.

Exercise helps first responders at DLA HQC, Fort Belvoir hone response to potential shooters

Only weeks after mass shootings at a concert in Las Vegas and at a small-town church in South Texas, employees of the Defense Logistics Agency should know DLA and other local first responders are regularly honing their skills in responding to active shooters, as they in did in a Nov. 7 exercise at the McNamara Headquarters Complex and at the agency’s facility in nearby Lorton.

The ceremony, held Sept. 28 at DLA Distribution Headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, served to remind attendees that those missing are still present in spirit.
