Local students meet with DLA Distribution’s deputy commander, learn how the warfighter receives supplies

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — On April 11, students from Juniata High School’s advanced placement Political Science class visited Defense Logistics Agency Distribution headquarters for an overview on how the Department of Defense supplies its men and women in uniform.

Land and Maritime Small Business Office wins Vanguard Award

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Department of Defense (DoD) has awarded the Verdure Award to the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Office of Small Business Programs for their contributions to buying method efficiency and innovation.

Sue Gibson, inventory management specialist at DLA Distribution Red River, Texas, was awarded the Achievement Medal for Civilian Service by TACOM on Mar. 8.

TEXARKANA, Texas — Sue Gibson, inventory management specialist at DLA Distribution Red River, Texas, was awarded the Achievement Medal for Civilian Service by U.S Tactical Command, on Mar. 8.

DLA Energy hosts 2017 DoD Fuels Awards

NATIONAL HARBOR, Maryland — Celebrating 51 years of excellence in fuels management operation and fuel handling, the 2017 Department of Defense Fuels Awards Ceremony took place at the Gaylord National Hotel and Conference Center in National Harbor, Maryland, April 11.

Carrie Eaton, tractor operator, tows a broken forklift to a back shop to be repaired April 4. 28th MXS back shop saves AF time, money

ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Ellsworth Air Force Base website — Back shops provide a technical service that Airmen working the flight line depend on in order to keep aircraft running safely, efficiently and smoothly. They spend countless hours troubleshooting components, ordering equipment and fixing parts.

Installation Support’s Environmental Division held quarterly RAB meeting

Richmond, Va — Restoration Advisory Board members, Defense Logistics Agency Installation Support at Richmond, Virginia, leadership and concerned citizens came together April 10, at the Bensley Community Center in Chesterfield County for the quarterly RAB meeting.

Army Spc. Dartanian Pina and Staff Sgt. Nicholas San Miguel from the 115th BSB, 1st Cavalry Division,unload a pallet of unserviceable parts for recycling to contribute to the 200,000 pounds collected by Fort Hood Recycle.

DLA helps Army units save time, money in 'surge' disposition event

Fort Hood, Texas — Defense Logistics Agency personnel helped Army units at Fort Hood, Texas, save 4,300 man hours in document preparation and screening in a recent two-week event, in which 859 vehicles turned in 400,000 pounds of scrap metal.

Employees from the DLA Troop Support Industrial Hardware supply chain participate in a Cross Function Day activity in the Bldg. 6 auditorium April 6. Personnel worked in small teams to construct military service insignia with hardware managed by the IH supply chain. The Cross Function Day event was designed to boost information-sharing across the supply chain’s diverse units and functions.
