Civilian retirees celebrate conclusion of long careers at DLA Troop Support

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support said goodbye to two civilian employees during a retirement ceremony October 30 in Philadelphia. James McCloskey and Stephanie Fuss, both from the Procurement Process Support office, retired after 54 and 40 years of federal service, respectively.

Linda Johnson retires after 36 years

A longtime leader bid farewell to the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Oct. 24. Linda Johnson, deputy director of the Land Customer Operations directorate, retired after 36 years of federal service. In her final role, Johnson helped lead the team responsible for readiness support to nearly 19,000 U.S. Army and Marine Corps customers, with sales orders worth approximately $7.4 billion.

Local Pennsylvania Rotary Club visit to DLA Distribution highlights growth, technology

Much has changed since retired Army Col. George Connolly was assigned to the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, more than 30 years ago. The agency’s role in supporting Department of Defense operations and humanitarian assistance grew dramatically beginning with Operation Desert Shield in 1990 and continued through now more than 18 years of military deployments in support of the Global War on Terror. Warehouses at the New Cumberland facility have expanded and become much more automated. Global positioning satellites now make tracking cargo more detailed than ever.

New employees experience fire drill during September session

The September New Employee Orientation was held Sept. 25-26 in Building 20. The session was attended by 15 new associates from the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime, Installation Services and J8C. There was some unexpected excitement and hands on activity when a fire drill followed the Defense Supply Center Columbus Fire Department presentation!
