From the Moon to Mars

Fifty years ago liquid oxygen and rocket propellant propelled the three-stage Saturn V rocket carrying the Apollo 11 spacecraft and three astronauts to the moon. Defense Supply Agency in Cameron Station – the predecessor agency of Defense Logistics Agency Energy – supplied the rocket fuel and other space-related items including liquid hydrogen, cryogenic valves and helium storage tanks to launch the first manned mission to land on the Moon.

Small Businesses receive answers to questions during event

DLA Land and Maritime detachment at Puget Sound participated in the “Meet the Buyers” small business outreach event in Bremerton, Washington, July 17. “Every time we attend an event like this, one of the key takeaways is an increased vendor pool across every socioeconomic category,” Hart said. “New vendors are able to learn about the many resources available to them, and how to successfully supply correct information when quoting DLA requirements. This provides immeasurable intrinsic value in ensuring DLA Maritime – Puget Sound is able to maximize contract award dollars to small business concerns.”

New crop of Army food trucks to serve up healthy, fast meals for more soldiers

Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support recently purchased six state-of-the-art food trucks for the Army’s Joint Culinary Center of Excellence. The first of these new vehicles rolled through the Troop Support headquarters in Philadelphia while on its way to Fort Drum, New York July 9, where it will be used for training before it goes into service.
