DLA Distribution San Diego providing mission essential support to national fight against COVID-19

Employees with the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution San Diego are providing mission essential support to the ongoing national fight against COVID-19 by providing critical supplies to the USNS MERCY currently docked at the Port of Los Angeles. The ship and its medical crew were deployed to alleviate the load on the local healthcare system by taking onboard non-COVID-19 patients.

DLA Troop Support supplies pre-made meals for sailors in quarantine

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support’s Subsistence supply chain received a request from the U.S. Navy for individually wrapped, pre-made sandwiches, salads and breakfast sandwiches in March, said Patricia Scott, chief of DLA Troop Support’s Customer Operations Garrison Feeding Division. These items will go to ships, mostly aircraft carriers, docking in Seattle, Washington; San Diego, California; Norfolk, Virginia; and Mayport, Florida, she said, to feed soldiers in quarantine and limit exposure.

Base Child Development Center staff bring virtual story time to DOD families

The Child Development Center at the Defense Supply Center Columbus serves the children of hundreds of military service members and Department of Defense employees. With many families working from home and adhering to social distancing guidelines, the center's child care staff found a creative way to keep in touch with children by creating virtual story time videos.
